Poetry: Under giant shadow
By Jacob Blevins Jan 2012
Under the giant shadow
I will lay
As my bones
Begin to decay
Staring into the sky
The stars that lie
And all that causes my wondering why
I find a calming
Wandering thought —
Does this exist
If only in mind
Does the creek flow
Does this light blind
Are the streets withered
Or is it my eye
That whimpers
Wallows
Wonders why
Why such beauty
Chooses to harm
Why such life
Does not charm
Why it's the sky
I choose to embrace
And why it sprinkles
Flies on my face
Why the moon
Fights with the sun
And why these thoughts
Continue to run
Why my eye
Continues to cry
Whimper
Wallow
And wonder why.
