Do you want to see pictures? It's simple once you get the hang of using the simple controls. This is to give you some help so that you can immediately see our historic pictures.
See all cover pictures from magazine on the Home Page from 2006 to now.
- If you want to see the 78 cover pictures that have run since 2006, you simply go to the Home Page and one of the pictures will be there. Each time you go to another page and return, the picture will be replaced by another.
- If you are impatient and want to see them all, click on the lower right corner of the picture. The Home Page picture will be replaced.
See all pictures that have run in magazine from 2006 to now.
- Select News Releases from menu on left of page.
- Go to the box of moving pictures at the top of right hand side of page.
- Click on the right hand side bottom corner of picture on right.
- Click on the top of the three buttons to enlarge the pictures.
- Click other buttons to stop the rotation and to go forward or back.
- Press "esc" to return to the News Release page.
See all the pictures in Photo Gallery.
- Click on Photo Gallery in menu on left side of any page in web site.
- Click on "Black and White" at top of Photo Gallery page and you will get thumbnails of all of the pictures that have run in magazine since 2006.
- Click on "Color Photos" and you will see thumbnails of some of the of the 200 or 300 pictures we make each issue that we did not have room to run in the magazine. Included is a selection from December 2011 to now.
- To view the pictures in either section click on the picture you want to see. It will be enlarged.
Where we are going.
Obviously, what we have now is the "beta" edition. We will make improvements as we work on the site.
- We plan to include all of the historic East Village Magazine covers — about 520 more pictures from the past and covers in the future.
- We plan to include all of the historic pictures we ran inside the magazines — about 1,200 more pictures now and those we will run in the future.
- We plan to include the best of the historic pictures we did not run in the magazine — about 4,000 more pictures from the past and ones selected in the future.
- We plan to set up a rotating section for the pictures that did not run in the magazine (like the one on the News Releases page).
- We plan to put an electronic copy of each issue on the web site — all 591 of past issues and issues in the future.
- We plan to produce occasional electronic books of photographs, prose and poetry. You can read online or print them.
- We plan on putting captions on each picture.
It is a long and arduous process. We have the technology. Given enough time we will produce our version of what has happened in East Village, an important part of Flint during the past 36 years.
