Opinion: Flint post office closing

What is not mentioned in these article is the trickle down impact on Flint and the east side.
I live in the township " but work at the plant and pay city taxes as all the employees do. Can the city afford to lose that income?
Moving the employees will have a ripple effect through out the community. I buy gas in Flint, shop at the Farmers' Market as well as other revenue generating activities " as do most of the employees on three different shifts here. That will all stop with the move to Pontiac.
What will it mean to local businesses? Will they have to drop their billing off in Saginaw because if they drop it in Flint it will become two-day mail instead of overnight? If they have a local direct mailer preparing the billings for them, has Flint just lost more revenue and jobs as its being sent out of Saginaw?
The Flint plant is one of the highest contributors to the local charities (combined federal campaign, United Way and other non-profit organizations). That money theat flows into the community " for the Woman - Shelter, Food Bank, etc." will stop. Yes, in Pontiac we can, through a convoluted process, designate that that money come back to Flint "but most people won't or won't think about it.
Yes it sucks if we have to work in Pontiac " but we won't be the only losers here.
