The Carriage Town Neighborhood Association March 12 discussed the Jackson Hardy House, the Road to Freedom group and a home fair.

David White discussed the Jackson Hardy House, a neighborhood house being rehabilitated by the association. He asked for volunteers to take care of one of the nine gardens on the property.

The group has worked on the house for several years. It has completed the exterior, gutted the interior and put on a new roof.

When the project is completed, the second floor will be leased to non-profit groups and the neighborhood association will have an office and a meeting room on the first floor.

A group agreed to write a letter of support for Road To Freedom, an organization in the neighborhood that helps people get their GED and find jobs.

The letter of support affirms that Road to Freedom has not adversely affected the neighborhood to allow Flint NIPP to get grants to support it.

Ryan Eashoo told the group they have gotten funds for a home fair tour this year from Flint NIPP. He said that they are looking for volunteers. The neighborhood last had a fair in 1998.

In other business, the group agreed to buy gasoline and new chains for $40 to $60 for a chain saw. President Tim Monahan said that the chain saw cut through a tree into chain link fence last year and needs a new chain before it can be used.

The group will meet next at 5:30 p.m. April 16 at the Durant Dort Office Building, 316 Water St.
