The Flint Planning Commission Aug. 24 approved site plans for expansion of the Hamilton Community Health Network and a cooler addition to a market on North Saginaw Street.
The group approved site plans for a new building for the Hamilton Community Health Network, 4001 N. Saginaw St., at North Saginaw and Leith streets.
CEO Clarence Pierce said that the building will have a full range of medical and specialty services, with 26 exam rooms, six specialty care rooms and dental labs, a pharmacy and an outpatient care facility.
The area will be fenced with wrought iron. The area behind the building will have a 4-foot retention pond with landscaping and green space to be used for health events.
The building will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Signs will be on South Saginaw Street, Leith Street and on Dartmouth Street for a drive-through. The handicap parking is close to the patient entrance. The employee parking will be enclosed with spots reserved for alternative fuel vehicles.
Pierce also said that construction will begin early next year.

Architect David Allen said that the 13- by 20-foot cooler will be built at the back of the store. The door will be moved to the south side behind employee parking.
The group will meet next at 6 p.m. Sept. 14, Sept. 28 and Oct. 12 in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 1101 S. Saginaw St. Call 766-7355 for details.
