The Flint Planning Commission July 26 discussed medical marijuana regulations and signs in public right of ways.
Members agreed that the proposed ordinance should prohibit dispensaries within 500 feet distance of residential areas.
Freeman Greer (4th Ward) said that signs for the dispensaries cannot depict graphic images of drug use or growth of marijuana and the dispensaries cannot be connected to any other businesses when the dispensary has a growing facility.
An ordinance amendment to the general sign regulations on temporary signs, such as political and real estate signs, was considered. It would prohibit the signs in a public right of way, such as a bus stop.
Members agreed that MTA wants to put up more benches and canopies and collect fees for advertising in the bus stops.
The group will meet next at 6 p.m. Aug. 23 and Sept. 13 at the city council chambers of City Hall, 1101 S. Saginaw St. Call 766-7355 for details.
