MCC award-winning fine arts student Pauly M. Everett will have a solo show of more than 40 paintings and sculptures Jan. 13.

The free, one-day exhibit will open at 11 a.m. and include performances at night by local bands, Kinetic Stereo Kids and the Decker Street Music Department, and feature live skateboarding.

Everett will premier new works including seven 6-foot by 4-foot loose canvas paintings, two 8-foot by 4-foot paintings, painted doors, a group of smaller paintings, mixed media and two mannequin sculptures.

The Union Hall, 1222 Glenwood Ave., is a former UAW hall adjacent to the former Chevy-in-the-Hole. It has a 6-foot half-pipe skate ramp in the center of its multipurpose room which will be surrounded by Everett's art during the event. The artist has six skaters confirmed but hopes to have 11.

On Point Gallery, also known as Spot at the Point or Spot Point, is holding the show as part of its monthly itinerant event series, which began in October at the Harris Building, 126 W. Kearsley St.

Everett has earned three gold awards for sculpture and painting and a second year art achievement award from Mott Community College.

This will be his second solo show. Everett held Untitled Werks at Good Beans Cafe in April. He has also shown at Gallery 194 in Lapeer, 555 Gallery in Detroit, the Aloha Lounge, Churchill's Food and Spirits, the Rowe Building, the Greater Flint Arts Council and the Yoga Loft.

Two of the new loose canvas paintings were shown Dec. 23 at the Flint Local 432 Maria Rose CD release show held at the Lunch Studio, 444 S. Saginaw St.

Blox will provide music throughout the evening.

Everett is still looking for experienced skateboarders and performance artists for the opening.
