Poetry: Rhetoric
By Rita Heidtman Jan 2010
She comes in softly sweeping
dragging her draped gown across the ground
silently...
She opens her mouth
to unveil two circles drawn
that separate into world dichotomy
She keeps each norm,
each answer
each cultural division
as secret
as we suck on her lips of sweet bliss
But through her years
of heavy sighs and fallacies
we turn blind eyes to see
Opening free
For an attempt to know truth
through reasoning
We the people:
A determined nation
in pursuit of new dreams
to balance the scales of justice
and discover her misguided lies
so we strip her
down
down
down
naked of her beauty
to reveal true selves
within the power of intellect
hidden underneath a veil of ignorance
