Petitions are now available in the Flint City Clerk’s Office for the upcoming Flint Board of Education election.
Three seats are open for the election, which will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
The terms of board members Joyce Ellis-McNeal, Terae King, Jr. and Laura McIntyre will expire on Dec. 31 of this year, and candidates elected in November will serve a six-year term that will expire on December 31, 2032.
According to a Flint City Clerk press release on May 8, candidates for the three school board seats must either file petitions with the Flint City Clerk by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, with at least 40 valid signatures (and no more than 100), or pay a $100 non-refundable filing fee in lieu of filing petitions.
Additionally, candidates must be a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, a registered voter, a resident of the state of Michigan for no less than thirty 30 days, and be a resident of the Flint Public School District on or before the 30th day before the election.
