In an interview on April 29, Donahue noted the list may still change slightly, as she received three challenges to her determinations regarding disqualified candidates by the challenge deadline on Tuesday, April 28.
“For that, an investigation is done by my office,” Donahue explained. She noted candidates are able to formally submit their challenges to her determination of their qualification, and then her team is tasked with going back to review the concern and provide the results of the investigation to the Genesee County Clerk.
Donahue said her office has seven days to complete those investigations and provide results, and that’s why there remains an “unofficial” list of candidates on the county website for a little while longer. She added that there had been a fourth attempted challenge to her determinations, but she did not consider it an official challenge because it didn’t follow the requirements of the law.
